Rarasaurs prompt today.
“If you could un-invent something, what would it be? Discuss why, potential repercussions, or a possible alternative.”
Good Question that has got me pretty stumped….
I guess if I could un-invent one thing it would be Tabloid Newspapers… I wish I could go back to days where I would read a paper, for economics, politics, society, book reviews, theatre reviews…. Intellectual pursuits.
I wish I didn’t have to paw through 30 pages of reactionary bullshit, just review or politics section, and a dumbed down version at that. I wish a world renowned critic could use the word plastic without a media frenzy,I wish the age of celebrity was dead.
I wish news was news and not sensationalism, I wish “hot topics” were caused by public outrage not celebrity branding… I wish people would take the time to think, and reflect not just react like a cornered mutt….
I wish times were simpler.
I wouldn’t invent an alternative, I would just like to completely wipe out the “culture” that now engulfs the entire western world.

Love you post today (or tonight as it is in Sydney). I too have the same opinion of the tabloids. I am from Australia and we gave the world the Murdochs

So has London, I got out of the game there as he was beginning to overrun the place, I felt.. Dirty, cheap, Like a whore… and all I did was edit a magazine that wasnt (yet) owned by him… no one cares if the girls in the office are sniffing coke in the toilets and not eating as long as they can write something scandalous about innocents who have done nothing but be an actor in a sitcom or soap opera… I fired, fired fired anyone like that but when you get rid of one another has come of age and is ready… the whole industry is flawed, there are still 2-3 gems out there, but they are falling victim to it sometimes too, I generally read online by bloggers and independent writers, you will normally get more of the truth from them than from the others! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment!
I agree with you entirely.

I think it would probably benefit Americans if we “undid” fast food for obvious reasons.
I Have to agree with you Dana, I touched upon the subject yesterday a little in the Prompt “Plot of Land” (http://wp.me/pGY0F-3J)
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I always appreciate it!

Tabloids are good only for training puppies or catching bird droppings. We would hardly notice they were gone.

Agreed! Todays youth get their News through the likes of People Magazine if they are in fact capable of reading or at best from TMZ – In a couple of generations the majority of people will be so dumb they will be herded like cattle through the the hoops of life in the manner the wealthy, educatted elites desire. Or they become fodder for pointless wars.
